Why does sex sell?

You are the critic, you are the the one being sold too...

Driving the streets of Los Angeles, I've noticed something. Billboards, they are everywhere. Given this is no an uncommon phenomen anywhere for that matter but this is a predominant place in which I came to my conclusion. As Saylors and I are driving the streets we embark on a Grand Theft Auto billboard with an animated girl looking seductive, and provocative.
"Please tell me, how does this imply, 'Buy this video game and steal cars?'" I said.
"Sex Sells," Saylors said.

Figure drawing dates far back and is most known for what the artists creates. Nudes. The naked body in this context is seen as a challenge to create a replica of truth. There is nothing hidden, no hidden agendas. It is what it is in the most transparent sense and it is beautiful.

But why does sex sell. Where did selling sex become a brilliant way to advertise. Sex sells at even the most random venues and outlets.

I admit it, I'm all for the occasional "That's what she said" joke. I can find humor in inappropriate things but there is a line. The line gets crossed far too many times.

The body is a beautiful thing. [no matter what]
Sex is a sacred. [at least in my existence]
The decision to play the body in a lustful outlet is a pity. [An opinion, but look at what it has done in the world, sex trafficking, rape, cheating, cheap feelings]

The artist believes that sex sells in art. That may be but the artist has the power to change what should sell.

Video Games: Notice the girl are the far right, please tell me how this describes any part of what should be sold on this game. These games are marketed to middle schoolers and teenagers but should truly be adult games.

Fast Food: The necessity to add sexual innuendos is cheap. It is a sad moment when creative minds can't revert to anything witty and clever. While the only think their mind can trace back to is the thread of sex.

...how do you feel about your purchase?
