Said the boy who doesn't know how to define beauty.
This is a rant, I think. Something that gets on my nerves, the over thrown vices of "beautiful" and "gorgeous." Etcera. Mainly coming from men who use the terms to every female that has two legs. It is men like this that make me rethink beauty, especially mine.
Please excuse me, if this is a hasty generalization. I don't believe this in every instance.
I've heard the call for romance to be redefined, but now I think beauty must be redefined.
Do you know all the things that make women beautiful besides outward appearance?
But I suppose it is situations like this where we find who we really are.
If it wouldn't have been for men like this I wouldn't have discovered that I can write and that I have a place in my heart for Africa (at the time, I had no idea where exactly).
Six years ago, I was sitting in my youth group and my Youth Pastor, Justin Graves was delivering a message. I remember this documentary about Africa that we were watching, the details are hazy but I remember my heart absolutely breaking. While my heart was breaking a boy sat next to me that was set on flirting with me and only worried about what game he could achieve.
I was appalled that this visual was going on and he wasn't paying attention. I immediately wrote a paper about it.
Defining Beauty
I would like to say my standards are too high for what beauty is. But I am learning from the creator that beauty is his definition. This subject is far more than my imagination can create but it is lovely none the less.
"The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord." Psalm 45:11
This verse actually reminds me of Captivating. Which I feel like someday I should reread it because I did not like it when I read it a few years ago.
Defining beauty.
So the overuse of these words desensitizes women to what we truly are.
that is beautiful. that is, our authentic beauty.
It is not what we wear or how we we do our make up.
our beauty is based on our hearts and how we react to our surroundings.
next time ask why makes you beautiful and there is so much, I promise.
remember we are created in "his image."
Beauty is more than just words.

oh my love.
you speak such truth.
i hopes this rings in the hearts of many.
i am heartbroken over what young women face today...
the standards society has set in regards to "beauty" is just disgusting.
and so many girls are left feeling so worthless.
it's time their hearts are nurtured.
it's time true beauty is defined.
it's time to let all young women know their value and their worth isn't in the color of their hair or what size dress they are,
but rather in the kindness of their hearts and their genuine smiles, the love they show others, and the joy that they spread.
when i think of true beauty...
i think of women like you.
who's hearts of pure gold, twinkling eyes, and genuine laughter shine brighter than the prettiest gemstone.
