I am here. You are here.

It is easier said than done. No matter how many times I say it or write it. Forcing the concept into existence, it must be true. But why can't I believe it.

I am not on another continent with my backpacker's pack exploring on a layover trying to read body language and logic to get me to where  I want to go. I am not in a third world country questioning the water that I am drinking or the "toilet" provided (or not provided).

I am here.

I am not in another time, creating a future that does not exist. Nor, may it never exist. I am not in the past, reliving mistakes, dwelling on greener pastures, stagnant.

I am here.

My feet touch this ground. My lungs breath this air. Today is not intangible. Unlike the past and future. The mirage of what has been and it is to come.

I am here. It is simple as that.

I am lack of sleep. Shooting and editing photograph after photograph. Spending a day pondering this mix. Heartbeats of life and beauty finding their way back home.

About the name

beautyinherveins logo

I realized the other day that I've never defined my name. Five or six years ago, I came up with it but with reason. When I started my blog it was obvious to me why I would use beautyinherveins, but now discovering that it may not be obvious to the reader. So, here it is.

About:

Often times we get caught up in the idea of beauty. We spend hours reinventing ourselves to perfection. The distortion develops based on what is current from the latest fashion spreads to the World’s top lists. We starve, we morph and we forget. We forget what is considered beauty. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” A saying that has lived through the ages; a saying that is all too true.  This is a call for the beholder.  Forget about the standard and find the beauty that is with in embedded in your veins. A beauty that is created within, that has been hidden. This unique beauty that only can dwell in someone created by the hands of a wonderful maker. Beholder, it is time to uncover, it is time to reinvent.

Beauty. in. her. veins.

"Hey Gorgeous!"

Said the boy who doesn't know how to define beauty.

This is a rant, I think. Something that gets on my nerves, the over thrown vices of "beautiful" and "gorgeous." Etcera. Mainly coming from men who use the terms to every female that has two legs. It is men like this that make me rethink beauty, especially mine.

Please excuse me, if this is a hasty generalization. I don't believe this in every instance.

I've heard the call for romance to be redefined, but now I think beauty must be redefined.

Do you know all the things that make women beautiful besides outward appearance?

But I suppose it is situations like this where we find who we really are.
If it wouldn't have been for men like this I wouldn't have discovered that I can write and that I have a place in my heart for Africa (at the time, I had no idea where exactly).

Six years ago, I was sitting in my youth group and my Youth Pastor, Justin Graves was delivering a message. I remember this documentary about Africa that we were watching, the details are hazy but I remember my heart absolutely breaking. While my heart was breaking a boy sat next to me that was set on flirting with me and only worried about what game he could achieve.
I was appalled that this visual was going on and he wasn't paying attention. I immediately wrote a paper about it.

Defining Beauty

I would like to say my standards are too high for what beauty is. But I am learning from the creator that beauty is his definition. This subject is far more than my imagination can create but it is lovely none the less.

"The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord." Psalm 45:11

This verse actually reminds me of Captivating. Which I feel like someday I should reread it because I did not like it when I read it a few years ago.

Defining beauty.

So the overuse of these words desensitizes women to what we truly are.

that is beautiful. that is, our authentic beauty.

It is not what we wear or how we we do our make up.

our beauty is based on our hearts and how we react to our surroundings.

next time ask why makes you beautiful and there is so much, I promise.

remember we are created in "his image."

Beauty is more than just words.
